Benzene on graphene: Types of domain boundaries

Показано, що для системи молекул бензолу, адсорбованих на поверхні графену, існує багатий набір лінійних топологічних дефектів — доменних меж. Це типова система з взаємодією 1034 Ван-дер-Ваальса. Раніше ми ввели векторний параметр порядку (OP) як перехід від симетричного до стабільного несиметричного положення та показали існування лівих та правих доменів, пов'язаних з двоатомною елементарною коміркою графену. Вперше виявлено існування доменних меж 180°, 120°, 60° та 0° для відносної орієнтації векторів OP. Показано, що для опису доменної межі потрібно знати топологію сусідніх доменів (лівих або правих), відносного напрямку та довжини векторів OP. Додаткову інформацію можна отримати з напрямку та довжини лінії межі. Введено топологічні правила відбору для можливих та заборонених кутів доменних меж. Розраховано кількість можливих пар доменів (меж). Зазначено, що домен та доменні межі в цій системі можуть бути штучно створені або виникати природним шляхом; їх можна використовувати для модифікації електронних та механічних властивостей досліджуваної системи.
