Very low-temperature magnetic relaxation processes of “butterfly” {Fe3TbO2} molecules

Анотація

Процеси релаксації магнітного моменту за наднизьких температур у молекулі типу «метелик» [Fe3Tb(µ3–O)2(CCl3COO)8 (H2O)(THF)3], {Fe3TbO2}, досліджено за допомогою поєднання вимірювань теплоємності та змінної (ас) магнітної сприйнятливості як за нульового магнітного поля, так і прикладеного магнітного поля. Теплоємність інтерпретовано в межах наближення, в якому субкластер Fe3 має повний спін SFe3 = 5/2, взаємодія лігандного поля Tb3+ (J = 6) описується за допомогою операторів Стівенса, а також враховується антиферомагнітна взаємодія Гейзенберга Fe3–Tb із JTbFe3/kB = –0.23 К. Зв’язані системи Fe3 (крамерсівська) та Tb (некрамерсівська) призводять до того, що кластер поводиться як крамерсівська електронна спінова система. За нульового прикладеного поля (H = 0) бар’єр одновісної анізотропії, зумовлений магнітним іоном лантаноїду (Tb3+), спричиняє два орбахівські процеси термічно активованого квантового тунелювання намагніченості (TAQTM). Перший шлях релаксації домінує в діапазоні найнижчих температур як процес TAQTM1 з енергією активації E1/kB = = 1.35(1) К. Оскільки іон Tb3+ повністю складається з ізотопів із ненульовим ядерним спіном (I = 3/2), процеси тунелювання від-буваються за участю електронно-ядерних надтонких шляхів. Коли система охолоджується нижче T = 0.17 К, домінує повільний прямий процес релаксації за участю акустичних фононів між розщепленими ядерними підрівнями основного стану. На цей останній процес впливає ефект фононного «вузького горла». Другий, більш швидкий процес TAQTM2 спостерігається за найвищих температур експерименту з енергією активації E2/kB = 3.70(1) К. Обидва процеси акти-вації можуть бути пов’язані з першим і другим збудженими енергетичними рівнями магнітного кластера. При охолодженні час релаксації переходить у режим квантового тунелювання намагніченості, який не залежить від температури і здійснюється через електронно-ядерні надтонкі шляхи. За температур вище 2 К, навіть за умов прикладання зовнішнього магнітного поля, час релаксації зменшується за межі експериментального часового вікна, що призводить до занадто швидких процесів релаксації. Отже, молекулу {Fe3TbO2} можна класифікувати як наномагніт, що виявляє властивості одномолекулярного магніту за субкельвінових температур.
